As more of us are looking to keep our health and as we become more health conscious we are becoming more aware of the links between health, fitness and diet. The old adage ‘you are what you eat’  has never been more apposite with more and more of us cooking from scratch instead of taking out ready meals or ordering fast food. 

Friends of ours who are personal trainers have noticed a huge improvement in their clients health where they have started cooking for themselves instead of eating ready meals. Can it really be that simple and what is wrong with ready meals? 

Having monitored the actual foods their clients were eating, including the exact make up and all additives they discovered that those who eat processed foods and ready meals were putting on excessive amounts of weight, even if they were frequent gym goers. This is because our bodies don’t recognise inverted sugars, some forms of fat and additives and fillers as food so instead they are treated as toxins and laid down as excess fat. 

So with this knowledge is it any wonder that the cookery books are flying off the shelves? With growing popularity there seems to be a cooking book for every diet and lifestyle including ones which specialise in meals for one person. 

As a business which specialises in self-catering we are delighted. Part or our inspiration was to give our guests the facilities so that they could prepare their own meals. This is why it was essential that all our cottages were within walking distance of local shops so that it would be easy for our guests to find and purchase their own ingredients.
